The ancient cairn in the garden. Colin's grandfather, a retired archeological professor, reluctantly gives him the basic facts.

When Colin wakes up one day, he finds that he's gotten sickenly thin. And outside the window...

...all he can see in buried in an unnatural thick layer of snow. The daylight is never beyond a faint glow.

When water has run out, Colin ventures outside. Trying to find other people. But...

...it's a hopeless task. And looking skywards, he discovers that something has gone terribly wrong.

From one of the nightmares that plagues Colin. A door beneath the cairn reveals a warm light.

From the light, Colin's mother emerges.

But the soothing moment is short and deceitful.
